The Victory Home:
Doing Our Part
In
addition to the work already described, there were other things people
did to contribute to the war effort. Writing letters to armed forces
personnel and sending them
gift packages was considered vital to morale. Entertaining armed forces
personnel
at canteens was also a morale booster. Knitting socks for soldiers or
hats
and sweaters for seamen was a job that could be done in church, at Red
Cross
meetings, or listening to the radio at home.
